We receive many inquires from potential riders asking about our club rides.  To make it easier to see if you'd like to come out for a ride, we listed the most commonly asked questions (and of course our answers!).  If you still have questions, feel free to contact us anytime HERE.

Question

Answer

Can non-members participate in an MMCC club ride?

Absolutely.  Give MMCC a test spin.  If after a few rides you find that you enjoy riding with us, we'd love for you to become a member.  You can download our membership application HERE.

What do I need to bring to a club ride?

Bring your bike, hydration / nutrition, helmet, identification, spare tube(s), tools and most importantly a great attitude. If you have a mechanical issue on the road, MMCC can help you out.

What is the average speed of a typical MMCC club ride?

Most of our members can maintain 15-16 mph average over 50 miles of varying terrain.  To make our club rides enjoyable, potential riders should be able to ride at that pace in a group setting.  On a typical ride, our stronger riders usually break off at times for a 'hammer fest'.  However, we always regroup at the top of climbs and at designated points on the course.  Nobody is left behind.

I'm female and was wondering if there are other females in the group?

Yes we do!  We have had female riders on our group rides on a regular basis.  Though we only have a handful of female regulars, we always have MMCC's offical biker chic Kim R. along to represent the girls!

Does MMCC only ride on Sundays?

Sunday is the official MMCC club ride.  However, we have many members organizing Saturday training rides on occasion.  We also have members meeting on Thursday mornings for laps around Fiesta Island.  When these additional rides get scheduled, it will be posted on our website's Annoucements section.

What is the route for this Sunday?

Next Sunday's route is always posted in the Annoucements section on the home page (The Prologue).  The route is usually chosen by Chairman Sammy and posted by the following Monday.  He has been known to accept bribes to influence which route is chosen!

What if the weather forecast calls for rain?

Rain in San Diego?  What's that?!?  In the rare event of rain on Sunday, we use this guide line:  If it's raining and/or wet at your house at the time you need to leave, the group ride is cancelled.  There are brave MMCC members that are known to show up anyway...but be advised that riding in the rain in a group is very dangerous.  Not advisable.

Are there rest stops during your club rides?

All our routes have designated rest stops and/or regroup points.  Those exact locations change at times, but we always stop for restroom breaks, refuel, and regroups.

How long do your club rides usually last?

Typically the route can take anywhere between 3 and 5 hours to finish.  This all depends on the group's pace, number of mechanical incidents and other time constraints.  Many members have time commitments and need to get back much sooner.  In those instances, members create short cuts to decrease the mileage of the route to get back on time.  This is all dependent on each rider.

I love the look of your team kits.  How can I get one?

We have a very limited supply of extra jerseys available for purchase to new members only.  Please contact us for current availability.
